The window gate in Amsterdam ^Sale

The 18th-century Raampoortje was located in the Amsterdam city wall near the Bloemgracht. The gate gave access to the bleaching fields outside the wall. Where dyed fabrics were laid out to dry on wooden 'windows': that's how the Window Gate got its name.
